Scholarships will be awarded to the Fulbright exchange program participants – to Slovene citizens for visits to the USA and US citizens for visits to Slovenia.

The subject-matter of this Call for Applications are scholarships for the participants of the Fulbright program – Generation 2012, specifically for visits of Slovene citizens in the USA and citizens of the USA in Slovenia.

The Fulbright generation 2012 includes those Fulbright program participants, which will conduct the majority of their visit in the 2012/2013 academic year.

    Scholarships can be awarded to the Slovene citizens for:

  • The cost of the cheapest return flight in Economy class between RS or other nearby airport to the appropriate airport in the USA depending on the location of the host institution;
  • A monthly stipend in the amount, defined by the relevant authority in the USA, if it is not covered by the USA authority.

Scholarships fo the US citizens can be awarded for each month of the visit in Slovenia a refund of the costs of basic health insurance in the Republic of Slovenia and a monthly stipend in the amount of:

  • EUR 800.00, if they are visiting students or
  • EUR 1,000.00 if they are visiting scholars.

Application Deadline: The application deadline is set as a rolling application deadline. The period of collecting applications starts on the day the call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia and continues until all available funding has been awarded, but no later than including September 30, 2013.

Additional Information and Clarifications:

  • Two application forms are available – US citizens should fill out and submit the application, that is bilingual Slovene/English.
  • The Basic Health Insurance with the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia is not obligatory if the visiting student or scholar has sufficient health insurance. If the applicant will want to have this insurance in Slovenia, this has to be stated at the application. The payment of health insurance in Slovenia has to be done by the Fulbright student/scholar and is then refunded quarterly upon presentation of required documents.
  • The Fulbrighters from US must register their residence in Slovenia after arrival.
  • Note that the Fulbright scholarship will be paid to the account in Slovenia so make sure you will open an non-resident account at the bank of your choice. To do so you will need a Slovene tax and ID number, issued by the Slovene local authority.
